Rare and acute complications of endometriosis in pregnant women

Here we analysed rare and acute complications of endometriosis in pregnant women by searching Cochrane, HINARY, PubMed databases. Keywords were “rare”, “causes”, “acute”, “complications”, “endometriosis”, “pregnancy”. The search depth was 10 years (2011−2021). In total, found 126 publications, 41 which met the selection criteria. course pregnancy childbirth patients with is insufficiently studied. Yet, it characterised a higher risk including those rarely occurring: haemoperitoneum, intestinal perforation, appendicitis, torsion rupture endometrioid cyst, thoracic endometriosis. Because major hormonal changes occurring during pregnancy, undergoes significant progression or decidualisation. As tissue resistance to progesterone, its defciency can lead necrosis, perforation decidualised foci, severe bleeding. Progesterone deficiency provokes hypervascularisation tissue, most common cause spontaneous haemoperitoneum frequently occurs third trimester after vitro fertilisation. Pregnancy increases endometriosis-related different localisation: small intestine, caecum, appendix, rectosigmoid colon. Limited information about pregnancy-related leads their underestimation, albeit they be life-threatening significantly impact health mother fetus. results this review indicate need for further studies endometriosis, especially use assisted reproductive technology.
